Part of our mission is to give something back to the individuals, communities and environments encountered on every AdventureSmith Explorations trip.

Small, Sustainable Cruises & Lodges

We achieve this goal foremost by booking travelers on expedition cruises and wilderness adventures that offer opportunities to have a meaningful connection with each place and its people. Quite simply, if you connect with and care for a place you will be more willing to advocate for its protection. We favor small ships, yachts and lodges that are rooted in a region’s environment, who hire local people and purchase local goods, contributing to local economies while also maintaining strict leave no trace and sustainable operating practices.

Carbon-Free Cruising & Trees for the Future

When you purchase a small ship cruise with AdventureSmith Explorations we have paid to neutralize the impact of greenhouse gasses that were emitted as a result of your cruise. We introduced this initiative, the industry’s first, in 2005. Read more about our program, applauded by Sunset magazine as “Leading the Charge” in the travel industry, on our Carbon-Free Cruising page.

Additionally, in 2010, we partnered with Trees for the Future to plant trees for every land-based AdventureSmith Explorations trip. We continue to work with our guests and our partners toward more sustainable operations and innovative ways to contribute to local people and enhance our travelers’ experience.

Connecting Our Travelers with Conservation

Another way we achieve our conservation goals is through connecting our travelers with a network of grassroots and global nonprofit partners worldwide. AdventureSmith Explorations is proud to work with a number of conservation partners in each of the regions we operate. We hope that by introducing our clients to regional conservation partners and their projects we will enhance travelers’ experiences while making a positive impact on the destination.
